How It’s Made – The Treglines Process

Preparing the Wood
Each piece starts with carefully selected wood. We treat it with a special solution to help it conduct electricity safely during the burning process.

Creating the Burn Pattern
We use a method called Lichtenberg wood burning, where high-voltage electricity (around 11,000 volts) is passed through the wood. This creates natural, lightning-like patterns called dendritic burns – completely unique to each sign.

Cleaning & Shaping
Once the pattern is formed, the surface is cleaned by hand using tools like a dremel, brush, and sander to bring out all the fine detail.

Adding Personalisation
If names or messages are part of the design, they’re carefully marked and cut into the wood using a router.

Finishing the Piece
A wood preserver of your choice is applied to protect the piece and bring out the grain. Depending on the design, we may also use epoxy resin to highlight or fill areas.

Special Effects (Optional)
For glow-in-the-dark finishes, the resin is “charged” under UV light over 2–3 days for maximum effect.
